Raspberry Pi as wireless access point
My room is pre far away from our router. This causes the wifi signal to be very poor; it's slow and often disconnects. There's an ethernet cable running to my room but sometimes I just want to chill on the couch with laptop on my lap 😌
Luckily I found out that you can use your Raspberry Pi as a wireless access point! Just connect it to the ethernet cable, do some small configuration and you got your very own wifi. Most of the tutorials I tried were outdated but this one worked wonders.
⚠️ If you have older Raspi (1, 2 or zero) you need USB wifi dongle
Unfortunately the download speed seemed to suffer quite a bit by routing the internet via raspi. Well, I guess it's better than no wifi at all 🤷♂️

And just for comparison, here is the speed when using ethernet (with 2 switches between my laptop and router, but that shouldn't matter)
Ethernet > wifi via raspi > wifi from router. I used Cloudlfare speed test for measurements.
